Kimchi’s first experience in woodworking, before entering university, was as an assistant in a cabinetry shop. There he first discovered his love of the craft. He completed his studies for a B.A. in Mid-Eastern studies and contemplated continuing in a related field. However, with the love of wood tugging at his heart, he chose instead to follow the path of artistic woodworking.

In 1990 Kimchi took a one year program in cabinetry. He followed with a year long apprenticeship at the Jeffrey Greene Design Studio in New Hope, Pennsylvania. His enthusiasm and aptitude for the craft were already clearly recognizable at this stage.

Returning to Israel in 1992 Kimchi established his business with a clear commitment to creating only original wood art of the highest quality. He particularly likes working directly with clients and values the lasting relationships he has built up with them. In addition, he works with architects, interior decorators and a broad variety of business people, creating custom furniture. His work adorns homes, synagogues and hotels throughout Israel and the United States.

Kimchi resides with his wife, Ariela, and three children in the village of Cfar Adumim at the edge of the Judean Desert near Jerusalem. The primordial landscape with all its swirling geological formations has become another vivid source of inspiration for Kimchi’s unique wood art and fine woodwork furniture.
